DINARAK PARTNERS WITH GERMAN DEVELOPMENT AGENCY

Monday, March 13th 2017

Dinarak has completed the signing of a formal cooperation agreement with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the German development agency, to work on a joint project, known as the Digi#ances Partnership Initiative. The initiative is aimed at the financial inclusion of low-income, unbanked Jordanians and Syrians through mobile payment services in the North of Jordan.

Dinarak was initally selected by GIZ in late 2016 to become its exclusive partner, from a shortlist of Digital Financial Services Providers based in Jordan. The project will run for 18 months and will improve awareness of digital financial services, and access to mobile money services, with particular focus on ensuring uptake among female users.

By further developing Jordan’s national digital remittance services, the project will also lay the groundwork for Syrians and other non-Jordanians to benefit in future from cross-border remittances.

On signing the agreement, Dr Loay Sehwail, Dinarak Co-Founder and Board Member, said, “We are delighted to partner with GIZ on this important project, which will transform lives in cities and rural areas across the North of Jordan. By subscribing to Dinarak’s mobile payment solution, low-income Jordanians and non-Jordanians will be given the means to manage their finances and conduct financial transactions that are cheaper, safer and more convenient than current cash-based methods.”
